Major Blomgren is a native of Butterfield, Minnesota. He was commissioned in 2016 after graduating from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities via the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program. He was subsequently designated as an intelligence officer.
His operational assignments include serving as a detachment officer-in-charge, company executive officer, company commander with 3d Intelligence Battalion; assistant intelligence officer with 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit; company commander with 2d Radio Battalion; and intelligence officer with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. He made multiple deployments and activities to USINDOPACOM, USCENTCOM, USEUCOM, and USNORTHCOM throughout his time.
In May 2026 Major Blomgren assumed his current role as the commanding officer of Recruiting Station Columbia.
Major Blomgren is a graduate of the Marine Corps' Expeditionary Warfare School. He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Minnesota.
Major Blomgren's personal decorations include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ three Gold Stars, Combat Action Ribbon, and various campaign and unit awards.
