Commanding Officer, 6th Marine Corps District
Col. Lance J. Langfeldt

Colonel Langfeldt is a native of Omaha, Nebraska.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1990.  Following Recruit Training and the School of Infantry he executed orders to Marine Barracks Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines.  Upon completion of barracks duty, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment.  During this tour, he deployed with the 31st MEU and served as both a squad leader and coxswain.  After his promotion to sergeant and completion of enlistment, he returned home to complete his undergraduate education at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

In 1997 he was commissioned.  After completion of The Basic School, Armor Officer Basic Course, and Scout Platoon Leader’s Course he was assigned to 2d Tank Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC.  During this tour he served as a tank platoon commander and company executive officer. 

In October 2000 he was transferred to The Basic School where he served as a Staff Platoon Commander (SPC), company executive officer, and warfighting instructor.  In 2003 he attended Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA. 

In June 2004, he was assigned to 1st Tank Battalion, 29 Palms, CA.  During this tour he served as a company commander and operations officer.  As a company commander, he deployed his company in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III. 

In June 2006, he reported to Manpower Management, Headquarters Marine Corps where he served as a company grade monitor and the Joint Officer Matters Officer (JOMO).  In June 2009, he assumed command of Recruiting Station Indianapolis, 9th Marine Corps District.

Following completion of RS Command, he reported to the United Kingdom Advanced Command and Staff College in July 2012.  He completed the course and obtained a master’s degree in Defense Studies from Kings College London.  In August 2013 he reported for duty as the Operations Officer, 12th Marine Corps District. 

In June 2016 he assumed command of 2d Tank Battalion.  After completion of command, he reported to Quantico, VA to attend Top Level School.  In June 2019 he graduated from the Marine Corps War College and obtained a master’s degree in Strategic Studies.  He then reported to MCRD Parris Island, SC for duty as the Assistant Chief of Staff Recruiting, Eastern Recruiting Region.  In June 2021 he assumed command of the 6th Marine Corps District.

Colonel Langfeldt’s personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with three Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and two Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star, and the Combat Action Ribbon. He is married to the former Cristy Lynn Miller and they have four children.
