Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station Baton Rouge
Maj. Christopher C. Attanasio

Major Christopher Attanasio is a native of Fleming Island, Florida, and attended the Virginia Military Institute through NROTC Scholarship.

After completing The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course in 2016, he reported to 3d Battalion, 4th Marines, served as a Rifle Platoon Commander in Company K, and deployed in support of Marine Rotational Force–Darwin 16.2. He then simultaneously served as the company’s executive officer and as advisor platoon commander (for Iraqi Security Development-Task Force Spartan) and deployed in support of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force–Central Command 18.1.

 In 2019, he served as the Operations Officer for Recruiting Station Tampa and was selected for, and attended, resident Expeditionary Warfare School in 2022.

 In 2023, he assumed command of the “Gunfighters” of Company G, 2d Battalion, 7th Marines, and deployed in support of Unit Deployment Program (UDP) 24.1. 

 In 2024, he reported to the 6th Marine Corps District where he served as the Assistant for Enlisted Recruiting, Assistant Operations Officer, and was selected on the FY26 RSCO Board to command Recruiting Station Baton Rouge.

 Major Attanasio holds a Bachelor of Science in International Studies and Political Science, a Master of Arts in Military Studies with a concentration in Irregular Warfare from American Military University (Magna Cum Laude) and is a graduate of the Expeditionary Warfare School-Resident and Air Command and Staff College-Distance Education Program.
