Maj. Vincent L. Thompson

Major Thompson, a native of Douglasville, Georgia, attended Officer Candidate School in the summer of 2007. He graduated from LaGrange College in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. 

Second Lieutenant Thompson attended The Basic School in October 2008 and upon completion attended Infantry Officer’s Course in July 2009. In October 2009, he reported to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, where he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander, deploying to Afghanistan in September 2010. First Lieutenant Thompson again deployed to Afghanistan as the 81mm Mortars Platoon Commander for 1st Battalion, 8th Marines in February 2012.

In October 2012, Captain Thompson reported to Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry (East), where he served as a Company Commander for Company D, and Headquarters and Instructor Company. In July 2015, Captain Thompson reported to Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia.           

In May 2016, Captain Thompson reported to 1st Battalion, 3d Marines where he served as a Company Commander, deploying to Okinawa, Japan in June 2017 in support of the Unit Deployment Program. Following his tour as a Company Commander, Captain Thompson was assigned as the Operations Officer for 1st Battalion, 3d Marines, deploying in December 2018 to Okinawa, Japan in support of the Unit Deployment Program.           

Major Thompson’s personal awards include a Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with Combat Distinguishing Device) and Combat Action Ribbon. Major Thompson and his wife, Lauren Thompson, have a 9 year-old son, Jack Thompson, and a 5 year-old daughter, Charleigh Thompson.
