Major Wilson was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. After graduating from Richland Northeast High School in Columbia in May of 2000, he matriculated to The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in Charleston in August of that same year. After graduating from The Citadel with a B.A. in English in July 2004, Major Wilson was commissioned and reported to The Basic School in November. Upon completing the Basic Officer and Infantry Officers Courses, he reported to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While there, he served as the Rifle Platoon Commander of 3rd Platoon, Company K. Major Wilson served in this capacity during the Battalion’s participation in Operation Iraqi Freedom in central Ramadi.

 

Upon return from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Major Wilson was selected to serve as the 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander. He was later reassigned as the executive officer of Weapons Company. He would serve in this role until May 2007 when he was reassigned as the Executive Officer Company L. He would serve in this capacity during the Battalion’s deployment as BLT 3/8 as a part of 22D MEU from July 2007 to February 2008. Upon redeployment he was assigned as Commander, Company L until receiving permanent charge of station (PCS) orders to Marine Barracks Washington (8th and I) in April 2008. During his time in Weapons and L Companies, Major Wilson completed Expeditionary Warfare School using the Distance Education Program.

 

After reporting to 8th and I, Major Wilson was assigned as Assistant Logistics Section Officer in Charge (OIC) and subsequently Section OIC, Marine Corps Institute Company, Marine Barracks Washington. He would serve in this capacity until being assigned Platoon Commander, Company A, Marine Barracks Washington in September 2008. He would serve in this capacity until being assigned Platoon Commander, United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, Marine Barracks Washington in September 2010.

 

In October 2011 he executed PCS orders to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines. Upon arrival he was assigned as Team Leader, Advisor Team, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, and would remain in this position during the Battalion’s participation in Operation Enduring Freedom in Helmand and Nimruz Provinces, Afghanistan. Upon redeployment in August 2012, Major Wilson was assigned Commander, Company B, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines. He would serve in this position until his assignment as Operations Officer, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines in April 2013, where he deployed to Okinawa, Japan as a part of the Unit Deployment Program-East.

 

In September 2014, Major Wilson reported to The Basic School and was assigned as OIC, Maneuver Section, Warfighting Instructor Group. He would serve in this position until being reassigned as Commanding Officer, Basic Officer Course, Company E, 5-15. He served in that position until December 2015, when he was reassigned as the Commanding Officer, Warrant Officer Basic Course, Company I, 1-16. He served in that position until May 2016 at which time he was reassigned to as Deputy Director, Warfighting Instructor Group. During his time in E and I Companies, Major Wilson completed Command and Staff College using the Distance Education Program.

 

Major Wilson took command of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Atlanta on 28 June 2017.

 

His military school and course training consist of Officer Candidate School, the Basic Officer Course, the Infantry Officer Course, Expeditionary Warfare School, Marine Advisor Course, Tactical MAGTF Integration Course, and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.

 

Major Wilson holds alternate MOSs of Foreign Security Force Advisor (0570) and Operations and Tactics Instructor (0577).

 

His personal decorations include the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with combat distinguishing device and gold star in lieu of second award, and the Combat Action Ribbon with gold star in lieu of second award. He was promoted to his current rank on 1 November 2014.

 

Major Wilson married former Leah Webster of Charlotte Amalie, Saint Thomas, United States Virgin Islands on 20 December 2011.  Their son, Bryce, was born 22 May 2017.
