Lance West, the AutoZone Liberty Bowl Marines Chin-Up Challenge champion, poses for a photograph with Maj. Jameson Norton, Maj. Jonathan Landers, and Col. Jeffrey Smitherman at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee, Dec. 30, 2017. The two finalists, West, from Brighton High School, and Jarret Fowlkes, from Christian Brothers High School, were the top performing students from local Memphis high schools. They had 30 seconds to complete as many Marine Corps chin-ups as they could. Smitherman is the 6th Marine Corps Recruiting District Commanding Officer, Landers is the Recruiting Station Nashville Commanding Officer, and Norton is the RS Nashville recruting support officer.
