U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Sean G. McCool, Platoon 2044, Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, stands at attention during a final drill evaluation May 31, 2017, on Parris Island, S.C. As the platoon guide, McCool, 19, from Sharpsburg, Ga., leads the platoon following Senior Drill Instructor Staff Sgt. Devon A. Luevano's orders. Golf Company graduated June 9, 2017. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
