Sgt. Maj. David M. Bombard

   David Michael Bombard Jr. was born on 1 November 1984 in Anaheim, California. On 14 October 2003, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and graduated from 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California on 9 January 2004.  Following recruit training; Private Bombard attended Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Pendleton, California and then Data Network Specialist School located in 29 Palms, California where he was promoted to the rank of Private First Class on 1 April 2004.  Upon completion, he was assigned the MOS 0656. 
 
Private First Class Bombard received orders to Headquarters Company, 12th Marine Regiment, Okinawa Japan in July 2004 where he served as an Data Network Specialist. While assigned to 12th Marine Regiment, Private First Class Bombard was promoted to Lance Corporal on 1 December 2004. From March 2005 to June 2005, he deployed with Joint Special Operations Task Force Philippines in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he served as a member of the Marine Security Element. In December 2005 he deployed once again with Joint Special Operations Task Force Philippines in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and was promoted to the rank of Corporal on 1 March 2006.
 
In June 2006, he received orders to Inspector Instructor Staff, Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Battalion 25th Marines, located in Brook Park, Ohio where he served as the Data Communications Chief. While assigned to 3rd Battalion 25th Marines, Corporal Bombard was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on 1 May 2007. 
 
In January 2008, Sergeant Bombard requested and received orders to attended Basic Security Guard School located at Marine Corps Security Force Regiment Chesapeake, Virginia. Upon completion, he was assigned the additional MOS of 8152.
 
In March 2008, Sergeant Bombard received orders to Alpha Company, Marine Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay, Georgia where he served as a Section Leader and Platoon Sergeant. Sergeant Bombard was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant on 1 August 2009.  In October 2009, Staff Sergeant Bombard attended Close Quarters Battle School located at Marine Corps Security Force Regiment Chesapeake, Virginia. Upon completion, he was assigned the additional MOS of 8154, and for the remainder of his time at Marine Security Force Company he served as the Close Quarters Battle platoon, Platoon Sergeant.
 
In April 2011, Staff Sergeant Bombard received orders to Headquarters Company, 5th Marine Regiment, Camp Pendleton, California. In July 2011, he deployed to Afghanistan with Regimental Combat Team 5 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he served as the communications platoon, Platoon Sergeant. On 1 March 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. 
 
In March 2014, Gunnery Sergeant Bombard requested and received orders to the Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Academy Camp Pendleton to serve as an Advanced Course Faculty Advisor. In October of 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Bombard was selected to serve as the Chief Faculty Advisor of Advanced Course, and shortly after was selected for the rank of First Sergeant in December 2016.
 
On 10 January 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Bombard was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant and received orders to Wounded Warrior Battalion (West), Camp Pendleton to serve as the Alpha Company Senior Enlisted Advisor. In May 2019, First Sergeant Bombard received orders to Site Support Smyrna, Combat Logistics Regiment 45, where he served as the Inspector Instructor First Sergeant in support of Personnel Retrieval and Processing Company, and Food Service Company. In November 2020 he was selected for the rank of Sergeant Major.
 
On 11 September 2021, Sergeant Major Bombard was frocked to the rank of Sergeant Major and executed orders to Recruiting Station Orange, 12th Marine Corps District to serve as the Recruiting Station Sergeant Major. In January 2023, Sergeant Major Bombard received orders to Recruiting Station Atlanta, 6th Marine Corps District where he is currently serving.
