Sergeant Major, Recruiting Station Jacksonville
Sgt. Maj. Hilton T. Wise Jr.

Sergeant Major Hilton T. Wise Jr. is a native of Orangeburg, South Carolina. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in December of 1998 and
attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of recruit training, Sergeant
Major Wise attended Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger North Carolina, April of 1999.


Following graduation of Marine Combat Training, he was assigned the MOS 1300 and reported to Marine Corps Engineer School.
Upon completion of the Formal Learning Center, Sergeant Major Wise was assigned the primary MOS of 1371 in June of 1999.
Sergeant Major Wise reported to his first duty station in August 1999 and served in the Construction shop, Marine Wing Support
Squadron 171, Iwakuni, Japan.


October 1999 Sergeant Major Wise deployed to South Korea in support of Operation Foal Eagle. During the deployment, he served as
a basic Combat Engineer facilitating routine life support requests through the areas of construction and general engineering. Upon
return, he served as Assistant Fire team leader.


August 2000 Sergeant Major Wise was assigned to Bravo Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion in Camp LeJeune, North Carolina.
In 2002 while serving with Bravo Company, he deployed to Guantanamo Bay Cuba, in support of Joint task Force 160 and succeeded
in various billets such as; Construction foreman, Squad leader, and Platoon Sergeant.


Sergeant Major Wise reported to Engineer Company, Marine Wing Support Squadron 274, Cherry Point, North Carolina in March
2003. While serving with Engineer Company, he held the billets of Platoon Sergeant and Non-commission Officer in Charge. Two
months later, he received orders to 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), Camp Lejeune, North Carolina;
deploying aboard the USS Shreveport. After nomination as Platoon Sergeant, he later deploying to Afghanistan in support of Operation
Enduring Freedom (OEF) in March 2004.


April 2006, Sergeant Major Wise was assigned to Recruiting Sub-Station Richmond, Virginia as an 8411, Canvassing Recruiter. In
February of 2009, Sergeant Major Wise completed a successful tour of recruiting duty, earning such distinctions as recruiter of the
month on numerous occasions, and RS Recruiter of the Year 3rd place in 2007.


Sergeant Major Wise reported to Engineer Company, Marine Wing Support Squadron 273 in March 2009. During his assignment,
Sergeant Major Wise completed an Individual Augment (IA) billet attached with Battalion Headquarters Group 5th Battalion 10th
Marines, Forward deployed (FWD) to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) April 2009 - March 2010. In
October 2012 Sergeant Major Wise completed a unit deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).
During his tenure at the unit, Sergeant Major Wise served as a Range Safety Officer, Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge,
Company Gunnery Sergeant, Acting Company Operations Chief, and Officer in Charge (FWD) 2012.


August of 2013, Sergeant Major Wise reported to the Marine Corps Engineer School (MCES), Combat Engineer Instruction Company
(CEIC) at Courthouse Bay on Camp Lejeune. While serving with MCES, Sergeant Major Wise served as Faculty Advisor for Basic
Combat Engineer courses and Combat Engineer Non-Commissioned Officer courses. He also served in various billets to include;
Bridging Section Instructor, Demolitions Section Instructor, and CEIC Company Gunnery Sergeant.


December 2015, Sergeant Major Wise reported to 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as the Engineer
Company Operations Chief. October 2016, Sergeant Major Wise deployed to Haiti aboard the USS Iwo Jima, in support of Hurricane
Matthew Disaster Relief. September 2017, Sergeant Major Wise completed a seven month MEU deployment aboard the USS
Mesa-Verde, and was rapidly recalled within 48 hours of initial return to deploy to Puerto Rico, in support of Hurricane Maria Disaster
Relief.


Sergeant Major Wise checked into 7th Engineer Support Battalion, Camp Pendleton California, in July 2018. He fulfilled the billet as
Bravo Company, Company Gunnery Sergeant. In October 2018, Sergeant Major Wise deployed aboard the USS Somerset, as Logistics
Command Element Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Peru.


In January 2019, Sergeant Major Wise augmented with 1st Combat Logistics Battalion, and completed the Marine Rotational Force
Darwin (MRF-D) 19.2 deployment as the Logistics Combat Element, Engineer Operations Chief. In October 2019, Sergeant Major
Wise returned to 7th Engineer Support Battalion to serve in the billet as the Operation's Chief for Alpha Company.


December 2019, Sergeant Major Wise was selected to the rank of First Sergeant, and received orders to 5th Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st
Marine Division. Upon check-in, Sergeant Major Wise was assigned to Battery Q, fulfilling the Battery First Sergeant billet, until
reassigned to Battery S in support of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) November 2020. After a successful UDP, Sergeant Major
Wise assumed the position as Headquarters Battery First Sergeant until receiving orders to 1st Marine Logistics Group early 2022.

6th Marine Corps District
