Maj. Joshua J. Abraham

Major Joshua J. Abraham was born in Medina, Ohio, and enlisted in the in Navy in February of 2000.  Upon graduating from Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill., he was stationed in Keflavik, Iceland. In March of 2003, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended MCRD Parris Island, SC.  After graduation Private First Class Abraham reported to the School of Infantry at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C.  After earning his MOS in Communication Repair he was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines, in November 2003, where he deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

In February 2006, Sergeant Abraham received orders to Headquarter Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, to serve with the Base Communication Section.  In September 2008, Staff Sergeant Abraham received orders to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, where he deployed again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was later accepted into the Enlisted Commissioning Program.

In October 2009 he reported to Officer Candidate School and upon graduation was commissioned a Second Lieutenant.  He completed Basic Officer Course 2-10 and Infantry Officer Course 4-10 at The Basic School in Quantico, Va. Second Lieutenant Abraham then served as a Light Armored Reconnaissance Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, deploying as the Light Armored Reconnaissance Platoon Commander with Battalion Landing Team 3/5 as part of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.  

In August 2013, First Lieutenant Abraham reported to Maneuver Captain’s Career Course in Fort Benning, Ga.  In March 2014, he was assigned to Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry West, to serve as the Battalion Operations Officer.  In September 2015, Captain Abraham was selected to serve as the Director of Marine Combat Instructor School, School of Infantry West.  

In March 2017, Captain Abraham took command of Company C, 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, and deployed to Syria in Support of Operation Inherit Resolve.  After completing his tour as a Company Commander in December 2018, Captain Abraham was assigned to 6th Marine Regiment and Task Force Southwest where he deployed as a Team Operations Officer to Afghanistan in Support of Operation Resolute Support.

In May of 2020 Major Abraham reported to Recruiting Station Columbia, 6th Marine Corps District, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, to serve as the Commanding Officer.

Major Abraham’s personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with C and two gold stars in of lieu 3rd award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold stars in of lieu 2nd award, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
