Commanding Officer, RS Montgomery
Maj. Nicolas R. Martino

Major Martino currently serves as the Commanding Officer of U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station Montgomery, Alabama.

He was born 19 October 1985 in Kinderhook, NY.

He attended The State University of New York College at Oneonta and attended Officer Candidate School after graduating. He received his commission on 8 August 2009.

After The Basic School, Second Lieutenant Martino was assigned to Marine Corps Engineer School, Courthouse Bay, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he attained the Military Occupational Specialty of 1302 Combat Engineer Officer.

After completing Marine Corps Engineer School, Second Lieutenant Martino was assigned to 7th Engineer Support Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA in 2010. During this tour, he served as a Platoon and Company Commander and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant on 8 August 2011. From 2012-2013, he completed the nonresident Expeditionary Warfare School curriculum. He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 November 2013.

In 2013, he was assigned to Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan, where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer, Company Commander, and Aide-De-Camp to Major General Herman S. Clardy, the commanding general of 3rd Marine Division.

Following this assignment, Captain Martino was selected to the Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Program at The George Washington University. Upon completing this program in 2017, he earned his master's degree in Leadership Education and Development, and he was then assigned as the 10th Company Officer at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

In June 2019, he was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 where he served as the Operations Officer. During his time there, he completed the nonresident Command and Staff program and the Weapons and Tactics Instructor course. He was promoted to the rank of Major on 1 September 2019.

In 2022, Major Martino assumed his current assignment as the Commanding Officer of U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station Montgomery, Alabama.

He is married to U.S. Marine (Retired) Captain Brittany Kirk, and they have three children.

Major Martino’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of third award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal with 1 gold star in lieu of second award.
