Maj. Patrick E. Blankenship Commanding Officer, RS Charlotte

Major Blankenship graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in History and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in June of 2005.  Upon completion of The Basic School, he was assigned as a Logistics Officer.  His first assignment was as the Assistant Squadron Logistics Officer with the Marine Wing Support Squadron-371 in Yuma, Arizona.  He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007 as the Squadron Logistics Officer where he was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant.  Upon return from Iraq, Major Blankenship was assigned as the Motor Transportation Platoon Commander from October 2007 to August of 2008.


Major Blankenship’s next assignment was as the Executive Officer, Marine Recruiting Station Fort Worth, Texas beginning September 2008 where he served 18 months as the Recruiting Station Executive Officer and 18 months as the Recruiting Station Operations Officer. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2009.  Upon completion of recruiting duty in July of 2011 Major Blankenship reported to Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia for a period of ten months.


In May of 2012, Major Blankenship reported to First Battalion, Fifth Marines in Camp Pendleton California as the Battalion Logistics Officer.  Serving for a period of 18 months in this billet, he completed a deployment as the Battalion Landing Team Logistics Officer in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit from December 2012 to May 2013.  Major Blankenship was then assigned as the Headquarters and Service Company Commander and completed a deployment as part of Marine Rotational Force-Darwin Australia from April 2014 to October 2014.


While deployed to Australia Major Blankenship was selected as the Executive Officer and Marine Officer Instructor Cornell University and reported in June of 2015. While assigned to Cornell Major Blankenship earned his master’s degree from Cornell’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations in Human Resource Management.


In August of 2017 Major Blankenship was selected to command Recruiting Station Charlotte and reported in June of 2018.


His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars. Major Blankenship is married to the former Katherine Grahmann of Sugar Land, Texas. They have three children; Lillie, Hallie and Griffin.
