Maj Gray currently serves as the Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station Atlanta. He has performed in this capacity since July 2020.
Maj Gray is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and was commissioned through the OCC program on 30 Nov 2007. He served as a rifle platoon commander and company executive officer with Third Battalion, Sixth Marine Regiment from 2008-2012. During this time he deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
In June 2012 Maj Gray was assigned to the Third Recruit Training Battalion aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. During this time he served as a series and company commander and spent his last year as the aide-de-camp to the Commanding General, MCRD PI / ERR.
In October 2015 Maj Gray checked into Third Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment. During this time he served as the commander of Headquarters and Service Company and Company K, deploying to Australia in support of Marine Rotational Force—Darwin.
In November 2017 Maj Gray was assigned as the Assistant Operations Officer for Seventh Marine Regiment, where he served for six months before being assigned to Second Battalion, Seventh Marine Regiment to serve as the Operations Officer. During this time he deployed as a part of the Ground Combat Element, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force—Crisis Response—Central Command.
Maj Gray’s professional military education includes Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program, the Army’s Maneuver Captains Career Course, the Tactical MAGTF Integration Course, and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College Distance Education Program.
Maj Gray’s decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with “V”, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with three bronze stars.
He is married to the former Mary Friedberg, and together they have two daughters, Charlotte and Eloise.
