Major Margaret A. Jones

Major Jones was born on 8 August 1986 in Birmingham, AL.  She attended Sewanee: The University of the South and upon graduation attended Officer Candidate School.  She received her commission on 12 December 2008.

After The Basic School, she was assigned to Logistics Operations School, Camp Johnson, NC where she attained the Military Occupational Specialty of Logistics Officer.

Major Jones received orders to Combat Logistics Battalion (CLB) 4 in Okinawa, Japan, where she served as the Support Company Executive Officer.  Shortly after checking in she was sent to CLB-31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and served as the Maintenance Management Officer, S-4 Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer, deploying three times throughout the Pacific.  Each of these deployments consisted of multiple bilateral exercises with militaries in such countries as Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia, and the Republic of Korea.  She also participated in two humanitarian missions, one of which was in support of Operation Tomodachi.

In June of 2011, Major Jones returned to CLB-4 and filled the billet of Motor Transport Company Executive Officer.  The unit conducted an extensive work up deploying to Camp Fuji, Japan, and the Republic of Korea before completing Enhanced Mojave Viper in November and December of 2011.  Major Jones then deployed with the unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Helmand Province, Afghanistan from January to August 2012. 

Upon return, she executed orders to Recruit Training Regiment, MCRD Parris Island in October 2012. While at Parris Island she served as a Series Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Company Commander during her three years. 

From 2015 to 2016, Major Jones attended the Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA.  From school she received orders to 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  She was assigned as the Plans Officer within the Operations section of the G-4.  In addition to planning the day to day logistical support for the Division, she was the lead logistics planner for Large Scale Exercise 17 and Trident Juncture 18.

Major Jones holds a B.A. in History from Sewanee: The University of the South.

Her personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars.

Major Jones is married to Major Bradley Jones of Salem, OR.  He is currently serving as the Plans Officer for G-4 MARCENT.  They currently live in Riverview, FL with their daughters Louise and Millie.
