Major Charlyne D. Lawrence

Major Charlyne Lawrence serves as the Commanding Officer for Recruiting Station Jacksonville.  She was born on October 5, 1983 in Brooklyn, New York.  She graduated from Miami Southridge Senior High School in Miami, Florida in 2002.  After completing high school, she enlisted in the Marine Corps and graduated as a Private First Class in December of the same year.

 

Upon completion of Marine Combat Training School and Electronic Countermeasures Technician School, she was promoted to Lance Corporal and reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 29 in New River, North Carolina. While assigned to MALS-29, she deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and was meritoriously promoted to both Corporal and Sergeant (Sgt).  In June 2006, Sgt Delus (maiden name) reported to MALS-36 in Okinawa, Japan and deployed with the 31st MEU. Then in October 2007, Sgt Delus reported to Newport, Rhode Island for the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection Training (BOOST)- a program that provides an opportunity for personnel to compete more equitably for selection to the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP). 

 

Upon selection to MECEP, Staff Sergeant Delus reported to the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Jacksonville University and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree from the University of North Florida (Jacksonville, FL) in April 2011.

 

After completing The Basic School in December 2011, Second Lieutenant Delus attended the Basic Manpower Officer Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. She reported for duty as the Adjutant for Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 372 in Camp Pendleton, California in March 2012. In August 2013 to April 2014, she deployed with MWSS-372 (Fwd) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and served as the Adjutant and Headquarters and Service Platoon Commander. Upon redeployment, Lieutenant Delus was selected for the Commandant’s Career Level Education Board and reported to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California in June 2015. In May 2017, she graduated with a Master of Science in Management degree and reported to Headquarters Marine Corps, Manpower and Reserve Affairs in Quantico, Virginia.

 

From April 2017 to August 2020, Captain Lawrence served in Manpower Management Division, Manpower Management Integration Branch as the Officer Staffing Goal Model Manager.  She also served in Senior Leaders Branch as the Deputy General Officer Matters Officer for several months and Officer Assignments (MMOA-3) as the Plans Officer. Major Lawrence was selected for the Commandant’s Professional Intermediate-Level Education Board for attendance to the Marine Corps Command and Staff College. Upon completion, Major Lawrence executed orders to Recruiting Station Jacksonville and assumed command on 2 July 2021.

 

Her awards include a Meritorious Service Medal and two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. She is married to Richard Lawrence and they have one son, Elijah, born on 26 November 2020.
