Sergeant Major, RS Tampa
Sgt. Maj. Franklin C. Morris

Sergeant Major Morris currently serves as the Sergeant Major for Recruiting Station Tampa.  He has performed in this capacity since June 2020.  

Sergeant Major Morris enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1995 out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  His initial assignment was with 3d Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California from 1996 to 2000. There, he deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), aboard the USS BOXER as a LAAD Gunner in 1997, and the 13th MEU aboard the USS BOXER, as LAAD Team Leader in 1999.  During this time he served in Operations Infinite Moonlight, Southern Watch, and Eagermace.

In March of 2000 Sergeant Morris reported to Recruiters School Class 3-00, MCRD, San Diego, California and upon completion he reported to Recruiting Substation Florence, Recruiting Station Columbia, 6th Marine Corps District, South Carolina where he served as Recruiter until 2003.

In June 2003 Staff Sergeant Morris reported to 2d LAAD Battalion, Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, North Carolina where he assumed the duties as Platoon Sergeant for 1st Platoon, Battery A.  There, he served in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 04-06 in 2005 and OIF 06-08 in 2007.

In May 2008, Staff Sergeant Morris was reported to Marine Corps Security Forces Regiment, Norfolk, Virginia where he assumed the duties as the Assistant Regimental Operations Chief. 

In June 2011, Gunnery Sergeant Morris reported to Battery B, 3d LAAD Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California where he assumed the duties as Battery Operations Chief. 

In May 2013 First Sergeant Morris reported to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division.  There he served in Operation Enduring Freedom 13.2 from September 2013 to December 2013 as the Head Quarters and Service Company First Sergeant.  Upon return from deployment he assumed the duties as Mobility Assault Company First Sergeant until June 2015. 

In July 2015, First Sergeant Morris reported to Marine Aviation Training Support Group 23, Pensacola, Florida where he assumed his duties as Aviation Maintenance Squadron 2 First Sergeant until February 2018.  

In March 2018 Sergeant Major Morris reported to 2d Supply Battalion, where he served as the Battalion Sergeant Major until June 2020.

Sergeant Major Morris assumed the duties of Sergeant Major for Recruiting Station Tampa in June 2020.

Sergeant Major Morris’ personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendations Medal (3rd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), and Combat Action Ribbon.
