Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station Charlotte
Maj. Peter H. Hofinga

Major Hofinga graduated from the State University of New York at Oneonta with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Political Science in May of 2010 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in March of 2011. Upon completion of The Basic School, he was assigned as an Infantry Officer. His first assignment was as a Weapons Platoon Commander in Lima Company, Third Battalion, First Marines aboard Camp Pendleton, CA. He deployed in support of Unit Deployment Program – West, followed by a subsequent deployment as part of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Weapons Company Executive Officer where he was promoted to the rank of Captain.

 

Major Hofinga’s next assignment was as the Training Company Executive Officer, Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, in Norfolk, Virginia. He served in both the capacity of Executive Officer and Commanding Officer throughout the time from March, 2016 to February, 2019. Major Hofinga completed the Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program during this time.

 

Major Hofinga reported to Third Battalion, Second Marines in Camp Lejeune, NC as Lima Company Commander in March, 2019. He completed a deployment to New York City as part of the CoVID-19 response force as the security force element of Operation Gotham 2020, followed by a subsequent deployment to Bardufoss, Norway in support of Marine Rotational Force - Europe. While deployed to Norway, Major Hofinga was selected as the Commanding Officer Recruiting Station Charlotte and reported in May of 2021.

 

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
