Maj. Mark A. Lenzi Commanding Officer, RS Tampa

Major Lenzi commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps on 14 May 2005. Second Lieutenant Lenzi reported to The Basic School in September of 2005 and joined Basic Officer Course Company 6-05. He graduated in March of 2006 and immediately enrolled in Infantry Officer Course class 3-06. Upon graduating in June as an 0302, Second Lieutenant Lenzi reported to 2d Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment in Twentynine Palms, California. In 2007, Second Lieutenant Lenzi deployed to Iraq in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM as a Platoon Commander in Company G. In 2008, First Lieutenant Lenzi deployed to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM as the Executive Officer for Company G. Upon Completion of this deployment, First Lieutenant Lenzi served as the Battalion Assistant Operations Officer until the summer of 2009 when he received orders to The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia. 

Captain Lenzi checked in to The Basic School in June of 2009 and was assigned to the Squad Package in the bullpen. After one year in the bullpen, CaptainLenzi was reassigned to the Infantry Officer Course, where he instructed until 2012. Upon completion of his tour at The Basic School, Captain Lenzi checked in to Expeditionary Warfare School, Academic Year 2013. After graduating in May of 2013, Captain Lenzi checked in to 2d Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment in Camp Pendleton, California. Captain Lenzi was given command of Weapons Companyfor the remainder of the workup and the deployment on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit from 2013-2014. After the deployment in 2014, Captain Lenzi received orders to the Ground Combat Element Integrated Task Force in Camp Lejeune, NC. 

In September 2014, Captain Lenzi assumed command of Weapons Company for the duration of the unit’s training in North Carolina as well as the evaluation in Twentynine Palms and Bridgeport, CA. In June of 2015, the GCEITF retired its colors and Captain Lenzi received orders to 4th Reconnaissance Battalion in San Antonio, TX. 

Major Lenzi was assigned as the Inspector-Instructor for Company C, 4th Recon Bn in July 2015. In March 2016, Major Lenzi completed the Basic Reconnaissance Course, earning the 0307 MOS. In December 2016, Major Lenzi was reassigned as the Battalion Operations Officer where he served until summer of 2018. 

Major Lenzi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business with a concentration in Financial Management. Major Lenzi’s personal decorations include the Bronze Star (V), Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
